JSON formatting basics

Valid JSON needs double quotes around keys and strings, commas between items, and no trailing comma. Use the JSON Formatter to pretty-print a compact payload before debugging, and the Validator to find the exact error.

Base64 is not encryption

Base64 only changes how data looks, it does not protect it. Anyone can decode Base64. Never store passwords, API keys or tokens in Base64 and call them secure.

JWTs: decode vs verify

Decoding a JWT shows its header and payload, but it does not prove the token is genuine. Verification checks the signature with the issuer secret or public key, and checks expiry. Always verify on the server.

Cron in 5 fields

Cron fields are minute, hour, day of month, month, and day of week. 0 9 * * 1 means 9am every Monday. Use the Cron Generator to build expressions without memorising the order.

Regex safety

Keep patterns simple, avoid nested quantifiers, and test on small inputs first. A pattern like (a+)+ on long text can hang a browser tab.
